The 2026 Dumbleyung Bluebird Festival: Family Fun Day and Where to Stay

The Dumbleyung Bluebird Festival is back for 2026, and it is shaping up to be one of the biggest dates on the Wheatbelt calendar. Held on Saturday 10 October from 1pm to 7pm in the heart of Dumbleyung, this all ages family fun day has grown out of the much loved Taste of Dumbleyung event and taken on a new name that pays tribute to the town’s famous claim to fame. Whether you are a local or planning a road trip through the Wheatbelt, it is worth pencilling in the date and sorting your accommodation early.

What is on at the festival

The 2026 Dumbleyung Bluebird Festival is packed with things for the whole family. Expect food and market stalls, live music, a fashion parade, animals for the kids to meet, showbags and free sideshow alley rides. It is listed at the Shire of Dumbleyung, 26 Absolon St, right in the centre of town, so it is easy walking distance to shops, the main street Bluebird replica and, of course, a cold drink and a feed afterwards. The Dumbleyung Inn is proud to be one of the co-hosts of this year’s event, alongside a great line up of local businesses and community groups. For the latest program details, keep an eye on the Dumbleyung Bluebird Festival Facebook page or get in touch with the Dumbleyung CRC.

A festival with Bluebird history behind it

The Bluebird name is no accident. Dumbleyung is where Donald Campbell set the world water speed record on Lake Dumbleyung on 31 December 1964, driving Bluebird K7 into the history books. The town still carries that legacy proudly, with a Bluebird replica on the main street and a memorial up on Pussy Cat Hill. Back at the Inn, our lounge houses a small Donald Campbell exhibition, so if the festival gets you curious about the full story, pop in afterwards for a look and a yarn with the team. It is a nice way to round out a day that celebrates everything Dumbleyung is known for.

Where to stay for the festival

Festival goers have a couple of good options for accommodation in Dumbleyung. There is free camping available for those attending the festival, which suits caravans, camper trailers and tents looking for a simple overnight stop. If you would rather a proper bed, a hot shower and your own bar fridge after a big day of rides and live music, our heritage style rooms at the Dumbleyung Inn are right in the heart of town. Rooms include power, water and Wi-Fi, plus tea and coffee facilities and a TV, and they are an easy, affordable base for families, couples or groups travelling in for the day. Given it is a popular weekend on the calendar, we would suggest booking ahead rather than leaving it to the last minute.

Make a weekend of it

Plenty of visitors turn festival day into a proper Wheatbelt weekend away. Dumbleyung sits within easy reach of Wagin, Kukerin, Lake Grace, Narrogin and Katanning, so there is no shortage of country driving to fill in the rest of your trip. A drive out to the Lake Dumbleyung lookout is worthwhile any time of year, even when the lake itself is dry, for the sweeping views, the birdlife and a sense of just how big this inland water body really is. If you are travelling in spring, keep an eye out for wildflowers around Tarin Rock and North Tarin Rock Nature Reserves, and golfers might squeeze in a round at Lakeview Golf Club before or after the festival. For those coming from further afield, Dumbleyung fits neatly into a bigger Wheatbelt road trip alongside the Public Silo Trail towns and Wave Rock at Hyden.

Dinner, drinks and Saturday night at the Inn

After a full afternoon of rides, stalls and sunshine, there is nothing better than settling in for a classic country pub feed. The Inn serves dinner six nights a week, with local wines, WA craft beers and weekly specials, and our pub menu of pizzas and burgers is a local favourite for good reason. Festival weekend also happens to fall on a Saturday, which means our regular meat raffle will be drawn at 8pm, so there is plenty of reason to stick around once the festival wraps up at 7pm.

Plan your stay

Whether you are camping for the night or booking a room, we would love to have you at the Dumbleyung Inn, 1 Bartram Rd, Dumbleyung, for Bluebird Festival weekend. Give the team a call on 08 9863 4817, check availability and book a room online, or simply pull in on the day. Pull in, have a feed, stay the night, and enjoy the 2026 Dumbleyung Bluebird Festival the way it is meant to be enjoyed, with good company and no rush to get back on the road.
